Explore Adobe Connect

Start a session: Create and open an Adobe Connect room to see how it works.

Change your role: Use the Room menu to change your role to Participant and understand the attendee experience. Switch your role back to Host.

Understanding different roles is key to managing a session effectively.

Test your audio and video: Click on the dropdown menus for your speaker, microphone, and webcam. Try turning each device on and off.

Tip: Always test your audio and video before a live session to avoid technical difficulties.

Customize Your Room

Add a new layout: Click the + New Layout button at the bottom of the Layouts panel to add a blank layout to your room.

Tip: Layouts allow you to prepare different pod configurations (Chat, Share, Attendees, etc.) for different phases of your session (welcome, presentation, Q&A)!

Upload a background image: Choose "Preferences" from the "Room" menu. Select "Custom room background" and upload an image from your computer.

Helps personalize and give a brand identity to your virtual room.

Explore layouts: Click on each layout to navigate through the different pod sets. Return to your new layout.

Familiarize yourself with how to quickly change the view and available tools during your session.

Explore Adobe Connect Pods

Add some pods: From the "Pods" menu, add the "Attendees", "Video", "Chat", and "Share" pods. Move and resize the pods to design your view.

Communicate: Type a message in the Chat pod and turn on your camera and microphone. When speaking, an active speaker icon will appear next to your name in the Attendees pod.

Share your screen: Click the "Screen" button in your Share pod. Adobe Connect may need permissions from your operating system to continue.

Whiteboard: Stop screen sharing and click the "Whiteboard" button in the Share pod. Explore the annotation tools. Double-click the marker to select different tools. When finished, click the three-dot options menu of the pod to export a snapshot as a PNG file.

Did you know...? The Whiteboard is great for brainstorming and interactive explanations.

Manage Participants

Change roles: From the Attendees pod, drag and drop a name from one role to another. It's a quick way to promote or demote attendees.

Mute/Unmute participants: Hover over a user in the Attendees pod and click to mute them and then to unmute their audio.

Monitor participants: Explore the different views of the Attendees pod by clicking the Breakout Rooms button, then the Status button, and finally returning to the List view.

Work with Content

Upload a PowerPoint document: In the Share pod, click "Stop sharing". Click "Document" and choose "Browse my computer" to select a PowerPoint.

Navigate the document: When it finishes loading, use the arrows to navigate through the document. Click the sidebar button to open it (only visible to Hosts and Presenters). Use the Outline view to jump to another slide and then close the sidebar.

Try more content: Click "Stop sharing" and repeat the process for other content types such as PDF, MP4 videos, MP3 audio, and images (JPG, PNG, GIF).

Adobe Connect supports a wide variety of content types for engaging presentations.

Add Interaction

Create a poll layout: Add a new layout, but instead of a blank one, duplicate the one you created before. Name it 'Poll 1'.

Add a poll: Hide the Share pod from its options menu. From the "Pods" menu, add a new poll pod. Explore the poll types: Multiple choice, Multiple responses, and Short answer. Select "Multiple choice", add your question and answers, and open the poll.

Tip: Polls are an excellent way to gauge understanding or collect opinions from attendees.

React: Explore the reactions and raise hand menus at the top of the interface.

Host a Session

Finish your room: Create the additional layouts you need for your session flow. Drag and drop the layouts to reorder them.

Manage preferences: From the Room menu, select "Preferences". Familiarize yourself with the options and enable closed captions.

Schedule a test session: Invite some colleagues to your first session. Practice managing participants, sharing content, navigating layouts, and using interactive features.

A rehearsal will help ensure your actual session runs smoothly.

Record the session: From the Room menu, click "Record session", give the recording a name, and click "Start recording".

Review Reports and Recording

Access reports: From the Room menu, select "View room information". Click the "Reports" tab and then "By Sessions". Click "Go to dashboard" for the recent session and explore the different report tabs.

Find your recording: Return to Adobe Connect Central and click "Recordings". Check the box for your recent recording and select the "Access Type" button to change it to public.

View your recording: Click on your recording. The next screen will display a URL for your recording; click on it to view it.
